Making Your Own Tomato Sauce

There are so many different recipes for making tomato sauce. It’s easy to make and an endless opportunity to experiment with your taste buds. You can make it thick, thin, sweet, or tangy. You can just make it plain or with a lot of good ingredients to make it more interesting. There are three basic ways to make tomato sauce. The first one is the one you cook all day long on a small simmer filling the house with a great aroma. The second is a raw type of sauce which is great for summertime cooking. There is also the barely cooked version which is also good for summertime and marinara sauces.

The basic way to start a homemade sauce is first getting some fresh tomatoes. The best way to prepare your tomatoes is to peel them first. You don’t want any of that skin in your sauce. Put them in boiling water until the skin starts to peel, pull them out, let cool, and peel. Some other ingredients you might need are a little olive oil, a little onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and maybe a splash of wine vinegar if you like. You take those ingredients and let them simmer for about an hour. That is the basic way for a plain tomato sauce. Now that you have the basic recipe, you can do anything with your sauce.

Take a chance experimenting with your sauce. You can add sausage, peppers, and even chicken and pork. There are so many recipes to choose from.
