Planting Your Own Tomatoes

This year, there has been a lot of talk about disease infected foods. Many have even been removed from the market. One of those foods includes tomatoes. When buying food at supermarkets or local food marts, there is a risk of food being infected with disease. Also, the food is not as nutritious as we might think, since before they are placed on the shelf, they are injected with many chemicals. One way to enjoy more nutritious meals is to grow your own tomatoes.

Growing your own tomatoes can be full of advantages. Tomatoes that are grown at home are less likely to contain a disease than those bought at a store. That is one big advantage to decide to grow your own. Tomatoes contain Vitamin C and many minerals which are good for your health. Planting your own tomatoes at home does not have to be a big mess. You can plant tomatoes whether you have a large backyard, a small patio or even in a small apartment. Where ever you live, you can plant your own tomatoes. There are many varieties of tomatoes that can be planted either in the ground or even hanging from a ceiling or roof. Besides health and space saving advantages, tomatoes grown at home can also save you a lot of money.

When buying tomatoes, you have to pay a certain price per pound of tomatoes. When growing your own tomatoes, you pay much less for either seeds or if you decide to save some time, a tomato plant. One last advantage to growing your own tomatoes is that not only did you pay less, but you will also have a whole season’s worth of tomatoes.
